RÉSUMÉ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dans la perspective du traitement automatique des langues africaines, nous avons décrit quelques caractéristiques du fonctionnement lexical du haoussa. Nous nous sommes intéressés aux règles de formation de mots à partir des racines où une racine est un mot auquel on ajoute quelque chose pour former un nom. Diférents mots se groupent en diférentes catégories. Chaque catégorie admet sa façon de former un mot masculin pour lequel il existe un féminin ou pas et vis versa. Elle peut également admettre un pluriel ou pas selon le cas. L’analyse de la structure du haoussa nous a permis de formuler plusieurs règles de fexion et de dérivation sur des noms dissylabiques et trissylabiques. Des diférentes théories dans ce domaine, l’approche de Scalise semble la plus indiquée pour une description de la formation des mots en haoussa.
